Siena Imports, Inc.

Siena Imports, Inc.Siena Imports, Inc. was founded in 1978 by partners Romano Chietti and Andrea Bartolozzi, who wanted to create a family-run endeavor based in San Francisco. With the addition of Jason Chietti in 1997 Siena Imports, Inc.and Serena Chietti in 2000, as well as an experienced and enthusiastic support staff, Siena Imports has developed into a multigenerational organization with a heartbeat of its own.

Siena Imports, Inc. was created with the intention of providing the American market with fine Italian wines that represent the historically diverse spectrum of styles from the 20 REGIONS that comprise the Italian peninsula.

At a time when winemaking can be affected by modernization, emerging technology, and changing trends in production techniques, Siena Imports devotes its search for wines to producers who maintain regional traditions while pursuing the best possible vintages. Not surprisingly, many of them have gained worldwide recognition. As a result, Siena Imports represents more than 160 wines from 40 PRODUCERS by focusing on both small, family-run wineries as well as large, international cooperatives such as Machiavelli, Cesari, and St. Michael Eppan.

Siena Imports Carpene Malvolti

Siena Imports Carpene MalvoltiTerroir, history, passion and specialization are the values that distinguish Carpenè Malvolti’s vast experience in the art of making high-quality sparkling wines. Intense research by enologists of acknowledged skills has led to the production of a limited number of bottles of an exclusive Rosé sparkling wine, designed to offer exciting flavours and thrilling sensations. An unmistakable product that combines uniqueness, culture and style.

FERMENTATION/MATURATION: Pinot Nero: soft pressing in order to obtain just the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place with the aid of very carefully selected yeasts; after this has been completed, and following a number of rackings, the wine is stored “sur lie”, (that is, in contact with its lees, which are kept constantly in suspension). Raboso: the grapes are picked in the ‘Gelsaia’ vineyard and are then dried on racks. The must ferments on the skins of the grapes, and after fermentation, the wine goes into oak casks for a brief period of maturation.

SOIL/TERROIR: Pinot Nero: a French clone, cultivated between the Piave and Livenza Rivers on clayey soils veined with caranto, a particular type of limestone that accentuates the wine’s floral perfumes and its tangy, savoury qualities on the palate. Raboso: cultivated in the vicinity of the River Piave, on stony alluvial soils.
